htmlText_FCE9D031_BC12_E48E_41E3_F86BEA97C306.html = Biotalys applies precision fermentation to produce its protein-based biocontrols. In this lab, the expression of the protein is induced by feeding a carbon source to small scale fermenters ranging from 250 mL up to 5 liter.
The fermentation broth is further downstream processed by filtration (micro- and ultrafiltration), followed by the formulation, resulting in an end-use product fitting the growers’ practices.
In this lab, Biotalys grows plants that are used to test the effectivity of our proteins on a small scale. There are not only tomato, potato and cucumber plants, but also bean, beetroot and sometimes even cowpea plants to test our products.
To allow proper testing, the plants should be clean and free of pests and diseases. That is why this room is hidden behind a lock and stringent safety measures apply to avoid contamination.
The Biotalys town hall serves multiple purposes: from lunch room to meeting place. Colleagues can catch-up over coffee or tea and celebrate birthdays or births! This venue is also used to welcome groups of visitors, such as investors, business or R&D partners. Therefore, Biotalys has invested in the implementation of various robotic systems covering multiple stages of the AGROBODY™ protein discovery process. A key benefit of automation is that it reduces the time required to identify potential candidates compared to manual methods and increases the reliability and efficiency of the platform. It also allows multiple projects to be carried out in parallel, thus addressing a broad spectrum of disease mediators.
This is one of the main laboratories used by Biotalys’ scientists to discover protein-based biocontrols. This state-of-the-art lab hosts scientists from various functions and is used for experiments and testing during the different phases of R&D on Biotalys AGROBODY™ technology Foundry. This open plan office space hosts the various staff functions such as HR, Finance, Sustainability, IT, etc. It’s a bright, spacious and modern office that was recently renovated and stimulates interaction between the people and teams. There are a couple of soundproof booths available for colleagues to have calls or work in silence if needed.
